GUIDELINES FOR THIRD-COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION TO THE EUROPEAN MASTERS IN LIFELONG LEARNING: POLICY AND MANAGEMENT IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 20010/2011
1. Eligible beneficiaries
A student who receives an Erasmus Mundus scholarship has to meet the conditions of the status of a so-called ”third-country graduate student”. Regarding this, please confirm that you are within the EU Commission’s definition of a “third-country student” (see below). If a student does not match the third-country scheme, he or she is not eligible for an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. A “third-country graduate student” is defined as follows:

2. ‘third-country graduate student’ means a national of a third country other than those from EEA-EFTA States and candidate countries for accession to the European Union, who has already obtained a first higher education degree, who is not a resident of any of the Member States or the participating countries as provided for in Article 11, who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries; and who has been accepted to register or is registered in an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course as described in the Annex;”

2. Applicant personal data

Copy of passport and 3 passport-sized photographs must be enclosed. Photographs should be provided in a separate envelope with the applicant’s name on it.

Additional information concerning special needs/disabilities may be provided in a sealed envelope with the application form. Such information will be treated as confidential and is requested only in order that the institutions may offer advice on what facilities are available for students with any kind of disability and to enable appropriate safety measures to be taken in the case of an emergency.

3. Academic history of third-country applicant
Applicants must have completed a good and relevant first degree (humanities, social sciences, other) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution of higher education (at least three years full time academic study)

Applicants must enclose a certified copy of their first degree (if this document is not in English, it must be accompanied by a certified English translation) and, if available, Diploma Supplement

Applicants must enclose a Europass curriculum vitae
Applicants must enclose certified copies of transcript of grades
Documentation (e.g. degree certificates) not available at the time of application must be provided at a later stage. Any such arrangements must be agreed with the MA LLL Consortium Office in Copenhagen

4. Work experience related to previous/current/future study
State briefly relevant work experience in the application form. Details can be described in the curriculum vitae
Relevant work experience is experience related to lifelong learning
Relevant work experience is not a requirement for admission
